Adventures in North Wales: A charming Village – Part One

With all the hard work underway at Rivercatcher I thought I’d take a little break and head down the driveway to explore the village where I will be spending lots of my time over the coming months.

As I take a right turn at the end of the drive I come to the main road into Llandrillo.  I bear left and walk only a few 100 metres to I come across my first point of interest, and what a great start to my adventure.  What more could a foodie like me wish for but a Michelin star restaurant on the doorstep. Brian Webb and his wife Susan run this delightful place call Tyddyn Llan. A quick look at the menu and I seem to be drooling already. I can see how it earned its Michelin star. Now should I go for the 7 or 9 courser tasting menu? I love local asparagus when it's in season so I think I'll have to go for the 9 courses... how greedy? The restaurant’s commitment to seasonality means its menus change accordingly and on this beautiful sunny spring day I could just take a seat in the Tyddyn Llan garden and start with a glass of prosecco. No wait... my mission is to explore the village and let you know what I find so I must move on and let you know what I come across next. This will be hard to beat.

Progress report on the Rivercatcher project.

Well spring has sprung (at last) and as well as the daffs popping up the building work seems to be blossoming too. The builders have set up camp and it's looking like the start of festival with all the caravans on site. They even have their own satellite dishes hooked up and carpet in their awnings... only luxury here at Rivercatcher you know!

It's not just the builders who have been working hard.  With a few sunny days in the last week the lawns at Rivercatcher have started to grow and it's been my job to give them a trim.  Any excuse for using our latest toy – take a look at me on the new ride on mower!

Enjoy the sunshine and catch you soon for part two.
